Centre 404 is a friendly and growing charity with an excellent reputation for providing high quality services to children and adults with learning disabilities and their families, in North London.

We have an exciting opportunity opening up as we look to recruit a new team of friendly and positive people to work in a brand new bespoke supported living project for a young man with autism, mild learning disabilities and complex behaviours, who is moving to his own home for the first time in Barnet, North London. The planned start date for this project is April 2018, however, we are looking for candidates to start as soon as possible as they will be placed in an existing project in the interim – either as waking night or day time support.

We are looking for calm and compassionate people to promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of the young man we support; to empower him to make choices and help him build and maintain relationships with his family and friends. You will help him to develop interests and attend exciting activities and assist with everyday living – including his personal care and health needs – whilst actively encouraging his independence.

This role will be to provide support to the tenant overnight, prompting with personal care, health and safety checks, cleaning tasks and lead on dealing with emergencies. Clear and effective communication with colleagues is essential to enable a coordinated team approach.

Waking Night workers will at times also need to be available for training and induction scheduled during daytime hours.

The right candidates will have a high attention to detail to be able to provide consistent support, maintain and follow guidelines and risk assessments closely in order to ensure the safety of the young man and the public. An understanding of autism and positive behaviour support would be advantageous. The role requires a proactive approach with the ability to think on your feet and maintain warm and positive communication to nurture a calm environment.

So if you are positive, flexible, have good communication, and a willingness to learn and develop new skills, this role may be just right for you!

We welcome Greek speaking applicants as the person we support speaks both Greek and English, however, this is not a necessity of the role.

This post is advertised under Section 7 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.

A full clean EU driving licence is essential for this role.
