Centre 404 are teaming up with Age UK to deliver a will-writing workshop on the 13th of August at 10 am.
The practitioner will be discussing Power of Attorney, Advance Care Planning and many other invaluable topics.
Some benefits of creating a tailored Will if you have an LD family member include ensuring continued care, protecting government benefits and establishing a special needs trust as well as many others.
Some benefits of creating a tailored will, if you have an LD family member, include:
- Ensures continued care:A Will allows parents to designate guardians and outline care plans, ensuring their disabled child’s needs are met after the parents pass away.
- Protects government benefits: Proper estate planning can preserve the child’s eligibility for means-tested benefits.
- Establishes a special needs trust:Parents can leave assets for their child’s benefit without jeopardising government assistance.
- Provides clear instructions:Parents can specify how they want assets used for their child’s care, education, and quality of life.
- Allows for unequal distribution:Parents can allocate more resources to the disabled child if needed while explaining their reasoning to other heirs.
- Names a trustee:Parents can choose a trusted individual or professional to manage assets and make financial decisions on behalf of the disabled child.
- Addresses unique needs:The will can include specific provisions for medical care, housing, or other requirements particular to the child’s disability.
- Offers peace of mind:Having a comprehensive plan in place reassures parents about their child’s future care and financial security
This workshop will be applicable even if you are not caring for a person with LD needs, anyone is welcome and I look forward to seeing you there!
