We support adults who live in this community with a wide variety of support.
Our active support workers are highly trained and experienced in delivering person centred care. We use active support to enable people to lead and direct support as much as possible, and it is strengths based. We teach practical skills and coping strategies, building support networks around the person. Our team receive a wide range of training and can support people with high and complex needs, as well as those with mild to moderate learning disabilities and mental health support needs.
Camden is a diverse and exciting borough which is something we replicate in our support, offering innovative and creative ways of supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism. Centre 404 is an ambitious and effective organisation, but we can’t do it all on our own! Therefore, we work in partnership alongside carers, families, the local authority and other organisations to ensure the people we support get what they need. We work closely in creating community partnerships, such as the Camden job hub, Unity Works and Camden Disability Action Group, as well as Synergy, to ensure strong local links for the people we support.
Our focus in Camden is on reducing service user’s reliance on other people for support and enabling them to become more self-sufficient. The reduction in support hours does not mean that people will see less of their support workers, but actually results in increased opportunities to try other activities within Centre 404, such as social activities organised by the management team or external partners.
The biggest improvement has been her volunteering at Unity Works. Initially, support workers had to stay in the kitchen with Lai to assist her, but now she works more independently with support staff nearby.
