Dora

Dora had both Down’s syndrome and dementia. As her condition progressed, she continued to inspire those around her with her determination to give back.

With the support of Centre 404, Dora participated twice in the Alzheimer’s Society’s annual Memory Walk, proudly raising funds and awareness for others living with dementia.

Even with her dementia deteriorating and Dora not being able to do her Memory Walk anymore, Dora didn’t stop giving. With encouragement from her support team, she chose a new way to contribute—through baking and hosted a coffee morning as part of Cupcake Day, an Alzheimer’s Society fundraising event.

Dora’s story is a reminder that with the right support, people can continue to live meaningful, fulfilling lives even in the face of complex challenges. Her legacy lives on through the work we do at Centre 404, supporting individuals with learning disabilities and dementia to stay connected, valued, and empowered.

Dora has since passed away, but her warmth, determination, and spirit are fondly remembered by all who knew her.
