Centre 404 recently submitted an application to the Camden and Islington Sustainability Awards, as part of our continuing commitment to reducing our environmental impact and improving sustainability.

We entered the category for ‘Best Environmental Community Project’ based on two key sustainable initiatives that form a part of our big Phase 3 building project at the home of Centre 404 on 404 Camden Road.

The first is the installation of a new Air Source Heat Pump  (ASHP) system which is used to heat the building and water, drastically reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality.

The second initiative is the development of a sustainable green space at the front of the building, to include things like sedum green roof, bug hotels, raised plant beds, rain garden, increased bicycle storage, a designated space for a new electric car and more.

It was a great evening at the awards, attended by our lovely Vicky and Lottie who submitted our application. Unfortunately we did not win for the category we entered but we did win the highly commended award within the category of ‘Energy Efficiency and Carbon Reduction’ and received a certificate for this achievement.

Next year we plan to enter again and hopefully WIN, once the project is complete. For now we proudly have our highly commended award hung up in our reception 🙂
