- Song Writing by our Youth Group
The Future Passes Earth
This song was written by the members of the YOUTH GROUP at Centre 404 on 4th February 2021.
We used the technique perfected by David Bowie: we cut up words at random from current magazines and newspapers to create sheets of lyrics, which were then pieced together to form a song that reflects the MOOD of TODAY.
It feels like our FUTURE is on hold.
Our future is passing us by. It is hard for individuals to feel responsible for a future that we have little control over, but we know that there will be a change and – just as snowdrops flower as a sign of Spring – we will experience a new beginning.
The Future Passes Earth
Four stars in the sky
Heaven’s light is burning!
Ghosts are fighting
The future passes earth
We knew we were under the great shadow
The future passes earth
RESPONSIBILITY
People cry late at night
Star in the sky
It’s lost its shine
The future passes earth
Unless you call
Look him in the eyes
The summer will be a call to arms
Unless you call
Look him in the eyes
It’s time for faith
To claim your halo
And for those who have everything
Speak to somebody
Speak, speak, speak
The FUTURE
This word is not our responsibility
This word is not forever
How hard is it?
How hard is it?
How hard is it?
The future is not our responsibility.
And finally, things will turn around?
There WILL be a
Good walk
There WILL be
The future
There WILL be
A Halo
And snowdrops
